blog #47: These Are A Few of My Favourite Things

With a packet of Red Rock Delt Salt and Vinegar chips in hand, I set out for a night of catching up on my favourite reality shows. If you didn’t know by now, hip-hop music, salt and vinegar chips and reality TV are my 3 favourite things in life. Given the option of losing Survivor or having world peace would be something I would seriously struggle with. Seriously (but not seriously, obviously!).

So last night I had a couple of reality shows to catch up on, including (but not limited to) Keeping Up With the Kardashians and their About Bruce specials, The Amazing Race, Basketball Wives LA, Made In Chelsea, Geordie Shore and my ultimate favourite: Survivor. Lasting for more than 15 years, it’s no wonder that millions around the globe love Survivor. Why I’ve chosen to spend a whole blog post on this topic is the fact that Survivor is doing something seriously amazing for their next season. They’ve opened up a live ballot for fans of the show to vote, out of a pool of 32 past contestants, for 20 of them that they want on the next season – something seriously remarkable! This has such a direct correlation to media as all 32 people have to campaign to get back on the show – whether through social media, TV and print, or as one castaway did and bought a spot on a billboard in their home city! It really is like a fight to the death to see who will get on and I, along with many others, are enthralled and excited to see the outcome at the reunion show for the current season tomorrow afternoon!

Never before has a reality show let a fan vote decide an entire season, Big Brother US has done a similar thing in the past but never to the extent that Survivor is doing. Whatever happens, you can bet your bottom dollar that my face will be glued to my laptop screen come September when the show is set to air.
