It’s hard to believe that there are still an abundance of naysayers in Australia who refuse to listen to Australian music. Australian artists are some of the best in the world… from blues and roots to hip-hop, pop to dance and everywhere in between, it still surprises me at the amount of people that believe that the Australian music scene is dead.
Being a huge music lover, I was excited to hear about a month ago that Jarryd James, a local Aussie lad, was getting some recognition on Triple J. Having previously been an unsigned artist, his original music has been fairly on point over the last couple of months. Now his song, Do You Remember is fast becoming one of 2015’s most downloaded tunes. The song is inherently catchy and the beat and accompanied voice matches beautifully. It’s not just Jarryd James that’s killing it at the moment, other artists such as Iggy Azalea, Allday, Sia, Vance Joy & Chet Faker are all rising up to immense international success.
This idea for a blog post came about as I was dropping my sister off to the airport this morning. KIIS was playing all Aussie tunes from 6am-8am and I was so happy to see the tracks getting the recognition they deserved. Another rant, but I just needed to get off my chest my absolute love for Australian music… did you buy your ticket for this train of thought?
