I’m just going to be completely honest here and say that I didn’t get much from this symposium…
It was a different set-up than usual where each tutor picked a part from one of the readings and discussed it, and I guess I just found the whole structure kind of disengaging, not that I have any other suggestions.
All I remember is Elliott talking about networks and nodes through the example of the transit system in Melbourne, specifically in terms of how each station is somewhat limited in terms of what connections, and how many connections, it has. This can mean that connections are not always so straight-forward. Some places only require you to travel along one line, whereas others require you to change lines multiple times. All networks can have these restrictions, and how you go about getting information might be a more complex system than you realise.
Having said that now, I have a feeling Adrian did not quite agree with these points. Unfortunately, I can’t remember his side of the argument, so I’ll just leave it there.
