On this cold, wintery night I made the trek from RMIT’s own Building 9 after cinema class to check out this years’ annual Independent Schools art exhibition. Not so coincidentally they were showcasing one of my pieces from my VCE Media production folio last year! I must say, I felt like quite the celebrity… (I’ll be signing autographs outside building 8 tomorrow). Besides my own, the exhibition featured work from students at various different schools around Victoria, studying Visual Art, Studio Art, Visual Communication & Design, or Media.
Most of the work was absolutely unbelievable… it’s amazing what incredible young talent is lurking around Victorian high schools.
The highlight of the night for me was seeing my friends’ work scattered around the gallery. There are a very large number of schools part of the Independent Schools group, and for so many of friends to be seen as the creme-de-la-crop gives me such school spirit and pride! Maybe I’ll whip out the old uniform for uni tomorrow?
I felt so honoured (and a little intimidated!) to have my work showcased amongst such high quality artwork. It felt amazing to be recognised for my folio freak-outs, anal perfectionism and late night cramming. Here’s one of my photographs from my 10-piece “Convicted” collection:
