90s party. Ah Childhood
Ah reminiscence and nostalgia. In fact I’ve come to realise that many people my age have a strong connection to the 90s despite most of us being extremely young. What we actually feel a proper connection to is the early 2000.
The strange thing I found about a 90s themed party was that with the current 90s fashion resurgence most of us could have gone out in the city and people wouldn’t have realised we were dressed up. I was sporting a corduroy mini skirt, a black midriff top, a choker and a sun necklace with a ying yang, topped off with heeled jelly sandles. I had my hair half down and half in buns and super dark purple lipstick. Super grunge (I’m perched right up the back)
Another great thing I noticed from this 90s party was the different sub cultures present. In my tight little group of college pals we had a great mix from grunge to surfers and skaters to pop princesses. There were caps gallore, tie dye, vests, SO MUCH DENIM, chokers and platforms.
The dress ups were great, everything was fresh as the fresh prince of belaire. We were getting jiggy with it and Man! I felt like a woman. Boom boom boom boom. THE MUSIC WAS EXCELLENT! From the grunge rock, hip hop, to the absolute pop bangers. Highlights of course were the boy/girl bands, Spice Girls, S Club 7 and the Backstreet Boys.
I’d just have to say it was a pretty swell era and I’m glad there’s a resurgence.
