Upon reading Karlee’s post about the dominating nature of the internet versus the increasingly debated necessity of books, I felt that I was undergoing the same tug-o-war as her.
The only time that I realise just how much I depend on the internet to tell me how to make the best choc-chip cookies, or where the hell I can buy shower caps, or how to stop hating life before 12:00pm, is when I don’t actually have internet access. And it sucks. For someone like me who is crappy at spelling, can’t cook for shit and gets lost in her living room, the internet is as important as a limb.
Having said this – I heart books. I heart the smell of books, and the feel and the sound of the pages turning. If I ever need to read anything important (most if not all of our readings) I have to print it out in order to properly take in the information.
I feel more aware than ever of the arguments for both sides of the debate. And I feel pretty stuck on the fence.
