The painting I have chosen to describe its lighting is Rembrandts ‘A Lady and a Gentleman in Black’. The key light source, whilst not visibile can be interpreted as sunlight streaming through a window. This creates a very directional source based on the shadow cast to the ground right of the chair which indicates a high window. The lighting is hard evident by the distinctive sharp shadows along the back right wall. The use of natural, ambient light has been conveyed by the slight warmth preset in the lightings colour temperature conveyed as a yellow tinge. Theres no apparent fill lighting from the right side of the painting which makes for appaent modeling on the gentlemans face as he angles slightly towards the sun. Based on the lack of detail in the black clothing, its hard to determine if theres any bounce light off the floor but its not apparent.
