There are several factors that causes the first plan for the short documentary film does not work out like it suppose to be. After I did the rehearsal interview with Fivo Freitas I found out that the third person that I should interview (Ana Noronha) is not available, because she is moving back to East Timor a year ago. When I heard the news of her absence,I had to find a replacement for her, which means that I also need to change the plan that I have made before.

From the rehearsal interview, I gather plenty of information and I used them to make a new plan. When I realised that I had to find a replacement for Mrs Noronha, I straight away contacted Robin dos Santos to replace her.

The storyboard above reflect the new plan for this short documentary film that I am working on.For the plan, I am going to let Francedez Suni to be the moderator for the interview of Fivo Freitas and Robin dos Santos.

I consider this interview as try out interview or rehearsal interview, the purpose of conducting this interview is to collect as much informations as I can, in order to prepare for the upcoming interview.

After conducting this interview I have gathered several useful informations, which I can use to write my script and make a plan for the upcoming interview or my final interview for this short documentary film project.

From this rehearsal interview I realised that the sounds play crucial role in a documentary film, particularly the film that full of interview. this try out interview also gives me a clue to position the camera when I am going to shot the final part of this project.

I was thinking of considering this interview as final part of this project, but when I reviewed it, I realised that there are plenty of things that still needed to be improve and I was not have a maximum preparation for it. Therefore, I take this interview as a preparation stage for the upcoming interview or the final part of this project.

In this interview Fivo is delivering information very well, and I was enjoy listening to him for almost twelve minutes without any pause, because most of the informations that he provided are important for the final part of this short documentary project.

After listening and gathering all those informations, I started to think of the script and looking for the third person to participate in the final part of this project. Most of the materials for the the short documentary film will be focusing on Fivo Freitas, therefore most the informations that he has provided will be used on the script for the upcoming interview.

I think I am lucky, because I could have a chance to conduct the try out interview, which helps me a lot in preparation for the upcoming interview.

This story board represent my first plan of shooting the short documentary film, in this story board I mainly focusing on the interview of Fivo Freitas and combine it with the third  party interview. furthermore in this story board also show the location of the interview which located mostly in Fivo’s residence.

I have contacted Fivo and he said he is ready for the interview, but the Third person inthe interview (Ana Noronha) will not be able to participate in this interview, because she has moved back to East Timor. Therefore, this plan is going to be changed.

This exercise was done in week nine; I want to look back at this exercise, because my short film project is quite related to this exercise. In this exercise we were focusing on the lighting, we learned how to manage the lighting and set the lighting to fit the story line of the film. In this short exercise I was in charge of the clapperboard, which was fun and it helps me to focus on this exercise.

In my short film project lighting is playing crucial role, cause it can help to explain the location of the film. Besides lighting also help to describe the subject. Therefore, this exercise gives me technical inspiration to improve my skill in setting up lighting in the future.

Originally from East Timor and long term activist, advocate and Spokesperson for the East Timorese Asylum seekers since 1999- to the present.

The winner of International Public Relation United Nation Award (IPRA UN Award) in 2003, the successful of the campaign “Let them stay” the East Timorese Asylum seeker.

The winner of Outstanding Yarra Community Service Award 2003, for the volunteer at City of Yarra.

Actor and the East Timorese consultant for the miniseries “Answer by Fire” 2005, the film about East Timor in 1999 referendum.

He was study at Melbourne University of Divinity and graduate as a Master of Theological of Studied in 2010.

Was working as a lecture in Canossian Institution of professional and Counselling at National University of East Timor, since 2011.

Pasion in social justice and community advocacy.

My Documentary film will be focusing on the life of this Timorese hero, and will also touch on the effort that he has done to save Timorese asylum seekers and refugees.

East Timor (Asylum seekers)

This video presentation is quite short, which I used to present my idea of the documentary film in the class. this short video can be confusing without any explanation. Well, this short video only contain soundtrack and a photo montage of crisis in East Timor in 1999 and also photo montage of asylum seekers.

The relationship of this video and my project is quite strong, because my project is about a man who save the life of Timorese refugees and Asylum seekers during the Indonesian occupation.

I hope that this short video will give you a clue about the documentary film that I am going to make.

This exercise was also done in the second class of week six, this film is the shortest film that I have ever made. I didn’t have any difficulties in editing this film. even though this film is extremely short, but the meaning behind the script of this film is quite strong for me, the script contain the element of conflict and passion.

This film was shooting during the second class of week six. the storyline of this short film, was inspired by that film that we watched in the class and we were also given a script. After we received the script we just follow the instruction on the script. I would like to thank Ali, because he did most of the shooting and also directing. furthermore, this exercise is quite fun and useful for me, specially it prepares me for the upcoming project.

Finally I managed to finish editing the short film that I have been working on it for a few days.

I was worry with filling up the missing part between each scene, but I could manage to add transition effect on them and all the scenes can go flow. When I added the transition effect on each scene, the story behind the short film that I am making can be clearly viewed.

When I reach final step of editing this film, I feel quite happy with all the effort that I have been putting on making this short film. However, there are a lot of improvement needs to be make in the future. There are some scenes that are too bright or over exposure.

I was having difficulties in editing this short film, but the over all result is quite satisfying.

Lonely Day

Lonely Day is the title that I choose for the short film that I am making. In this short film I am trying different shots, which focusing on a guy who are being lonely while walking around the city.

I was planning to shot a horror film, but the timing was not perfect for that. Therefore I decided to change my plan and shot something else. I was not write anything about this short film that I am making, which I call “Lonely Day”, but the ideas just occur in my head once I went into the class and everyone started to talked about their ideas.

I explained my ideas to my friends who I was going to work with, and they all were happy to work with me on that day. We went out to Swanston St, and started to take the first try out shot. After the first try out shot I realized that there are some improvement that need to be done, so I took another shot and it went pretty well.

I took several footages, which I could use to finalize the film, and I was pretty confidence on those footages that I was collecting. Everything seems pretty good till I went into the edit room.

When I am doing the editing, I found out a lot of missing parts, which needed to be fixed. The story line is fine for me, but there are some gaps between each scene. Those scenes are connected, but they are not going in a flow, which makes the film does not look nice.

After I found out that problem, I am starting to make a plan, in order to fix it. I might add a sound track on this film or call the actor and take some additional footage to fill up the gap.
