It was interesting to listen to how Adrian talk about SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION. As Adrian said in class that, the advance of technology make people closer to each other than before, and the term of privacy in the 20 years ago are different to today. in the era where technology is pretty advance, people are instantly response to each other and it makes the movement of the informations faster than before.
Well, there are lots of in class activities, as this unit is full of activities. Among all those activities, this particular activity is the most interesting one.
I believe that this final assessment will be quite interesting, as it will push me to get of from my bed and do the work that I have to do.
As the brief said that each student need to make three different films and also focuses description instead of the narrative or story telling. It is easy to do a short description film, but I believe that it is going to be interesting.
After reading the brief from assessment 3, I believe that this assessment will give me more experience in making a short film.
Between now and at the of this semester, I would like to understand more about the concept of making the short film and also relate them to course readings. in addition, it would also interesting to know the differentiation of telling the story in the film or a narrative and describing the film or make a description of a location in the film.
In the assessment task 2, we were given a task make a soundtrack and a video in response to the soundscape that we received from Offenburg. The soundtrack wasn’t that great as, the sound wasn’t that clear, but the video was great.
Besides of making the soundtrack and the video, our group was also writing an essay about our work, which relate them to the readings. Feedback that our group got from the essay is pretty satisfying as in the feedback; pointed out introduction part of the essay. I agree that introduction part of the essay is quite interesting as it says in the feedback. Furthermore, the essay also shows the strength of writing that our group has, in term of criticizing our work.
Last week classes were mostly focusing the essay, how ever in the first class of the last week, we were listening to the soundscape that we have done. Well, there were readings that I needed to read in order to do write the essay, but I wasn’t read until the last minute. Regarding class discussion there wasn’t much class discussion to do, mostly it was about drafting the essay. Besides of drafting the essay, I was also participating in the first class of the last week in giving feedback to the soundscape that we were listening to.
In sound editing, layering Technique is quite important. It helps in making the soundscape, sound more attractive. I have just recap from the course that I took in the previous semester about the editing and apply the techniques in editing this particular soundscape. When I finished applying layering technique, I found out that, this technique does give lots of impact on the sound quality.
The sound that our group created is meant to tell the audience a brief story about kitchen. We are hoping that audiences follow the narrative of the soundscape that we made and also understand the story behind it. With clear narrative and voice over that we got, we are quite certain that this soundscape will convey messages to the audiences who are listening to it.
This particular image is drawing my attention in the world of media today and in the future. As the image above shows, basically I am going to talk about equal opportunity in the world of media today and also in the future.
In the past women had less chances to hold important position in media industry. By looking into several sectors in my home country Timor – Leste, I now realize that women’s influence in the world of media are increasing. During Portuguese occupation, which was before 1975, women did not have an equal opportunity to gain education as man, which could create barrier for them to earn good job. When Portuguese left the island, and Indonesian took over the administration, the Indonesian government gave women and men equal opportunity for education.
The equal opportunity that was given by the Indonesian government allowed women to shape their intelligence and express their creativity, and it guides them to gain same position as men do. As Muhammad Yunus said that women tend to care more than a man, which give women’s participation in the world of media are quite important.
The result of women’s participation in the world of media benefit the community a lot, because now women can do men’s work and vice versa. Based on my vision, women’s participation in the world of media will keep increasing and the more they participate, the more positive impact they make
