Summer night in Berlin,
we had Schweinhaxe at Hackescher Market.
Summer night in Paris,
lies a Toyota hubcap by the Seine
—we were on our way to the Effiel Tower.
Also by the Seine, a man was taking fashion photos.
Egypt stone tablet, Christ on the cross,
Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Berlin Wall.
Civilization goes on, cradled the seeds of “Faith and Religion”,
but the suffering remains.
A woman on two wheels.
People still live in this old neighbourhood,
as if the history turns like wheels.
(There is no other caption for this photo since the important elements are all in the poem. )
