Seth mentioned that if we wanted a high distinction, we’d better to include interview for experts. (Update: This has been informed in email that it is not the case.) So our group decided to find someone in the news industry, which Anna will do over the weekend. For the first minutes, we decided the structure of audio essay since a rough cut is due next week in workshop. Basically, we will start with the introduction of our topic: Media and technologies and then with an example of Paris Attacks, we from there will elaborate the change in reception and distribution of news due to the new technologies.

One suggestion made by one of the students to our project was: To present the Paris Attack example in the videos essay rather than audio because the example may be a little bit dull for the audio. So this stroke me that we should try to put in interesting sounds to keep our audio essay less monotonous. We won’t change our plan, but we will note that to interest people is important.

Other than that, there weren’t much to do this week.

P.S. Seth talked a little bit about the studios for next week: Studios for semester 1, 2016. This one is for this semester, but it gives us a general what the studios may be about.

During the workshop, I realized that my inability to communicate naturally with my group members bugs me; my brain sometimes just goes blank when I work with others, and when I start to look at the project alone, I’d have many to say (but then I have no one to talk to). It is pathetic. I cannot imagine what will happen when I go to the studios next semester. Maybe it’s due to the language, but I’m not sure. I get also really quiet among my Chinese friends. It’s my personality. And I must overcome that if I want to become a director.
