The movie “Hero” by Zhangyimou demostrates the director’s fantastic awareness and use of colour. I am glad that someone in China is able to produce a film that’s as aesthetic as this. Here’s some movies clips that I love.
The movie is about an assassin called “nameless” who practises swords battling for 10 years just for skill to kill Qinshihuang. He tells the Emperor Qinshihuang how he killed other killers who wanted to assassinate the emperor. They talk of different scenarios of the same story; and in the end, Nameless realises the ultimate ideal for a warrior, and gives up killing Qinshihuang. The story expresses the idea of placing the personal hatred below the good of the people.
