It has been long since the last time that I watched a movie only for pleasure—usually it was for film analysis. I haven’t watch many Japanese films and I think that I should have watched more. There’s so much likeness between their lives and lives in China. Many attend extra courses outside the school, trying to get better grades for the examination to enter universities. Although I haven’t attend Gaokao due to some policies, I did understand the pressure because I saw my friends spending all of their time in studying. They have got at least nine different courses at the same time: Literature, English, Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, Politics, P.E., and etc (all compulsory). Marks for examinations in China and Japan are really important if you want to get to a better university. This movie has triggered my memories.
