Overall I think our seminar went really well given the circumstances. All the elements that we could control were handled well. However there were a few external issues such as the class before running an exam that ran over, Shelley sending the RMIT Technical Services Assistant away before he had finished helping us setup the AV system inside the lecture room, and the evacuation drill that occurred during the seminar.
It is disappointing that RMIT’s systems meant that these things could happen. However, as a team we all worked well to get everything together and I think that what we pulled off within the time and framework that we were given was a good result.
I worked hard to make sure everyone had designated roles and would know what they had to do at all times to make sure that everything operated as efficiently as possible. To make sure everyone was around the timeline and tasks needed I created a call sheet and coordinated all the meeting points and times. I also made sure I was in contact with group members individually to ensure that they were happy with what they were required to do and understood their tasks. I have been the central contact point and coordinated the final submission tasks too. I also organised “CREW” tshirts to give us a professional look and add a level of unity to the event.
The guests were informative, and whilst they dragged on a bit, overall the seminar was well managed and I am happy with what was obtained from the level of effort we put in.
Here is a link to the CALLSHEET I made for our group. It meant that production managing on the day, it was easy to coordinate what needed to be done and everyone knew what area they were working in.
