I have chosen my partner Amitoze as the subject of my Project Brief 3. He is a very interesting person and we have been friends for a long time. Amitoze is a student at RMIT, and also suffers from an eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa. He sees life through a tunnel and I have decided to explore his passions, interests and his perspective on the world by showing the audience images through a tunnel, similar to how Ami’s vision.
I received some feedback from the class that I took on board. It was mentioned that they found the static confronting. It was also mentioned that it was rather jarring, cutting to a medium and then a wide shot at the end of the clip as the entire clip up until that point contained static and images through a small opening. Some positive comments included that it was good that we heard his voice, and then saw his face. It was suggested that we first go through what he goes through and then meet him. Another possibility, which was mentioned by some of his friends, was that I could have shown how difficult it is to get around. It was even suggested that I should film Amitoze walking into things, which could have given the project some humour. You can watch the film below:
Thank you to Jordan for mentioning my film in his post on the 2 May 2015.
I really liked Alexander’s Project Brief 3, Bits and Pieces (A Portrait of Zoe). It is so honest and open and provides an insight into who Zoe is, the seemingly superficial dialogue is contrasted with the pensive mood that is created by the slow paced classical music. Zoe then opens up and talks about her estranged father which fits the tone of the music. It is well put together and the stock footage along with the footage of Zoe work well.
