In order to understand the elements of constructing storyworld, we were sent out on campus to take five photographs that explore the world of RMIT. My group decided to focus on the different doorways that existed at RMIT, from the Old Melbourne Goal that was constructed in 1845 to the new Building 80 that we built in 2012. The doorways told a story of the history of the space.
Old Melbourne Goal, built in 1845
Building 1, built in 1887
Building 93, built in 1907
Building 13, built in 1937
Building 9, built in 1938
Storey Hall, built in 1995
Building 80, built in 2012
The various settings did construct a sense of RMIT’s world. The old and new buildings gave a sense of change and development. However, a critique includes the fact that the photographs only provided a glimpse into the world and do not tell a story on their own. The photographs are not immersive and did not produce a coherent story.
