Being Jewish, and having a variety of different holidays and festivals throughout the year, Passover is one that my family believes to keep every year. Remembering the time when the Jews where free from slavery in Egypt. I literally have been spending all week avoiding wheat and other foods, substituting it with alternative foods. i wanted to see how i could connect Passover with the media. During everyones family meals, one thing that was constantly being used was Snapchat. Everyone posting certain traditions and meals that take place, just to show that they were taking part in a ‘Seder’. One thing snapchat showed was a story- that showed the festival being celebrated all over the world. For me, i could feel such a connection to everyone else’s stories- just because the tradition is celebrated so alike in every single family. Snapchat allows people to show exactly what they are doing, for other people to see. Why? Maybe to make a good representation of their image, by showing that they are social, and are out doing something. But also, to have a certain platform to show an audience ‘behind the scene’ footage of a persons every day life- which is something i am guilty for doing.
