The second part of the lectorial focused on video essays, and what it actually is and comprises of. We were shown Nick Moore’s example of a video essay ‘Video Essay, Video Essay’, showing exactly how it works.
These were some points I jotted down to remember:
- Structure: informal, unconventional
- Pot Pourri of sources and ideas
- Citations: Consistent, multiple
- Ideas: Juxtaposition
- Narration: Voice over
- Experiment: Layered and textured
As it’s a relatively new method within studies, there are many techniques for citing certain works, it can literally be done in any creative way (on screen, vocal, link on the screen etc).
