REFLECTION
Interviewing Ellie was an absolute pleasure. Knowing her for such a long time, she has always been such a positive person , having a different outlook on her everyday life. I decided to interview as she fit the criteria perfectly, together with her amazing presence on camera. Ellie is a body acceptance activist, and promotes healthy eating and lifestyle to almost 45 thousand followers.

I used the Sony MC50 camera to film my interview, and yet knowing its basic functioning through the past workshops, it really gave me a head start to get right into the interview, and to start filming. When I got to Ellie’s house, we had so much fun talking about her lifestyle choices. Filming was definitely the highlight of the whole project. It is something I have decided that I enjoy doing.

Structure. I thought my efforts of picking certain moments from a 10 minute video was pretty successful. I was really happy with the structure of the film, and the way it progressed into accomplishment and a certain conclusion.

Here are some of the issues I faced.
Distortion. Probably the biggest issue I faced while creating the project. Clearly, while filming the microphone was way too close to Ellie, combined with her speaking way to loud. I was really disappointed with the sound, as when audio is clearly distorted it is really hard to fix it. By watching numerous editing tutorials for the issue, I found a few ways around it, but unfortunately couldn’t manage to get rid of all of it.

Quality. I am not sure why, but using the Sony MC50 camera did not conclude in such amazing quality. I have a feeling, before recording I did not set it on the right setting, and therefore didn’t not succeed in getting the highest quality possible. However, it is not terrible, and can most definitely learn from this mistake for next time I film.

Editing. Editing on Premiere is still a new experience for me, having a very limited knowledge on the tricks and tips on making a video that much better. A few times in the film, the editing seems to be pretty poor. This was due to a very limited amount of time, and not finding any other ways to fix it.

Discovery. Through the process of creating the project, I came across many new techniques, in which I aim to perfect in the future. The concept of editing is so timeless, you literally start and cannot stop until a final product is complete. Making a concept of narrative needs so much thought to put in. I had all the control in what points I want to convey to the audience. From a 10 minute interview, I had to choose exactly what was relevant, and most important. Completely manipulating the concept to merge into a powerful clip.

Overall, I am really happy with the way my project turned out. Based on my skills and ability on Premiere, I am slowly processing it all. My ability to combine my creativity, with technical skills is improving. As I still made many mistakes, I really aim to work on these, to prevent them from happening again, and to perfect my skills for next upcoming projects.
