Lecture about how good the next one will be
(I want Spacey as my lecturer)
So… there was an attempt to write the wrongs of last week’s lecture but ultimately it still failed to hold my interest.
It was basically the same as last week. Adrian addressed that the lecture style is in development and will be ready later in the year. What!? Why wasn’t this prepared before we started uni?
I can say that the content that Adrian talks about is half-decent, but it still feels like it’s not quite related to what we’re doing. That being said, I don’t have the faintest idea of what we’re doing besides blogging about the course.
A question came up about why we should come to the lectures if its content is irrelevant to the subject, and Adrian said that he would answer the question, but rather talk to it. That’s all he did. Talk to it. No resolution to that question at all.
The big improvement on this weeks was allowing Elliot and Jasmine to talk about the subject. I think that if these lectures are to succeed (they should definitely not be called unlectures. If they get to the stage where they are panels, then just call them forums or something) they need to be more interactive for the audience, as well as more discussion among the tutors.
I am still giving the staff the benefit of the doubt because Brian is AWOL, but I do think that they could have a quick discussion about how they should do the panel and Q&A. It would take them 10 minutes to sort something out like that, yet they are reverting to the same old tactics.
[…] James notes that the question wasn’t answered. Fair enough. Edward ready to move on. James wants more involvement (always good, let’s see if we can get it happening), Arthur’s essentially a thumbs down (and to be fair, I could have let the question slide, it was one question only, but it is a question that if left unattended can grow virus like legs), Daniel is I think on the fence but I like that the expectations and differences from before to now are becoming clearer, Danielle liked some ideas but is unconvinced by the format (trust me, I really share that concern), Blaire sees possibilities but remains a no […]
Well said!
