Development 4/4

This week is were some of the finishing touches were made, which were deciding on what the opening and closing videos should be, and they should be edited. I put my hand up and said that I can create these videos since I find editing easy and enjoyable. Since our documentary is about individuals journeys and the bad stories they experienced when they were on their trip. I thought it was only fitting if we opened it with a visual of someone getting on a plane and then a car travelling through a suburb or city in double the speed. Both of which I had previously shot for holiday videos I created myself. Using a film burn on the screen setting, I overlapped the visual to create a unique effect, then cut these clips together and placed some music (a friend of mine created last year that creates suspense) in the background. For the closing, I was thinking about flashing the pictures one by one on the screen, to show all the individuals stories that you’ve listened to, and to emphasise the effect they stories may or may not have had on you. But when looking for creative commons music that I thought would fit was hard to come by. Therefore I had the idea of having all the pictures come up on the screen one by one, by a beat. Continuously overlapping pictures and placing them in large and small-scale areas on the frame. Which one could say evokes the sense that stories are infinite and constantly moving and changing. Overall, the two final videos complemented the idea of our project well, and created a nice cinematic feel.

In Thursday’s class we presented our work to the panel, which I thought went very well (beside the Korsakow only allowing us to show demo mode). But we expressed our idea and how you navigate through Korsakow with our keywords and I felt that the panel thought it was a good idea, and that we are able to create a large-scale interactive project using other programs for future development. Which I am really interested in doing because using Korsakow was a handful for both Olivia and I, and kept providing us with a lot of trouble working out the logistics and controls of the application. However, looking back, using Korsakow has been a good experience and also a beneficial one because now its just one more application that I know how to use, that I never knew existed.
