Interview subject – Amy-Jo Jorry
Amy-Jo creates a lot of conceptual art/performance, often using her body to communicate a meaning. Her piece: I don’t want revenge, involved her sharpening 40 axes over 36 hours with a sharpening stone, water, bastard file and chopping block. This largely physical work seems largely inoperative by the audience.
Her work at testing grounds as part of the Love/City II Festival in Melbourne, she explored ideas of heritage, gender, time and power by using a sledge hammer to smash bluestone bricks in her performance Listening To Stone II
