Specific To Site – Week 3

Presentation’s of Project Brief 1

Saw some really thoughtfully composed images, video’s and sound. People really look deeply into different concepts regarding their homes and what about it they connect to and identify with, often very conceptually. Light played a large part in many project’s, including the way light plays on walls, enters the home and creates an atmosphere.

In retrospect if I was to alter mine as inspired by others it would be to form a strong theme evident through all (or the majority) of the piece’s. Mine was almost just a random assortment of images with a linking idea behind them but I would now have preferred to also establish an aesthetic theme. It was suggested I get closer with the images, immerse the audience, which is something I agree with. I framed most of the images in a relatively straightforward way but maybe to get closer, consider new angles and new framing would have produced more thoughtful work.

An example of getting closer to establish an idea in my images would be the floral armchair. As opposed to taking an image of the whole chair I took only a close picture of part of the pattern. Overall I hate this chair but the intricate nature of it is in a sense mesmerising.

We set up all laptops, running sound, video and image at the same time and from the back of the room this was the view. Little bright windows into various homes. To choose to look at all of them as a whole, or to focus individually on a certain screen changed the perspective.
