#30 Favourite 80s Movies- Better Off Dead (Savage Steve Holland, 1985)

Written and directed by Savage Steve Holland starring John Cusack, a recurring prince of 80s films (Say Anything, The Sure Thing etc.) This film is very funny and weird.

There is this weird mix of french, cartoons, skiing, explosions, odd little brothers and an underdog that makes this film what it is, which is awesome!

I love John Cusack, that is no secret which might be why I am a tad biased about this film but I do recommend it as it is a classic.

#21 Favourite 80s Movies: Tuff Turf (Fritz Kiersch, 1985)

So this film stars James Spader (before he became all creepy looking in Boston Legal) and also my favourite Robert Downey Jr. who plays the best friend!

It’s basically just the common tale of the new kid in school who falls for the gang leaders girlfriend and a bunch of stuff goes down. Good movie that you don’t need to think to hard about really. There is also a really long fight scene where you become unsure when the film is supposed to end and people just don’t seem to die, but eventually it does and they do and overall it is a good film with some awesome 80s fashion, and I think that it deserves some more credit

#11 Favourite 80s Movies

I am in love with those classic 80s films; The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Pretty In Pink etc. (Basically anything with the brat pack)

Being this junkie, over my time on this earth, I have come across many more 80s movies that do not get nearly enough credit. So every so often I am going to post about a film that was incredible and that I would definitely recommend.

I’m starting with Less Than Zero (Marek Kanievska, 1987)

It stars Andrew Mccarthy and the incredible Robert Downey Jr. in this film based on the book written by Bret Easton Ellis (who also wrote American Psycho) I definitely recommend reading the book if you’re into that kind of thing.

Anyway this film (and the book) have to be high up in my all time favourites. It is a film that is quite contrasting from other 80s films, as this one explore themes of drug addiction, betrayal, depression and various other dark ideas.

The filmography is great, the plot is good (a tad slow at the start but that quickly passes). The acting is quality and the soundtrack is killer, so check it out!
