“reading is directed creation”- Sartre
As if we are being guided what to think adn imagine, there is not complete control over what we see in our minds, however what we do see is only because of the writer. Books are supposed to express this element of freedom and arts, which is true for the writer, who is able to write about anything, yet the reader is gets “a strictly limited freedom”. Books are these incredible stories that captivate us and make us fall in love with the characters. We subconsciously create this idea of what is going on in the book in our heads, like Douglas suggests that we can only be given actions without any nouns or adjectives, yet we still have this image in our heads of the situation. Fantastic!
I know I could have talked about books ending and added something about hypertext, but I didn’t want to.
