Musical Motivations

If there is anything that can lift my mood, it would have to be musicals. And in this sense, I’m talking about musical films and TV shows. And if there is also anything that is keeping me going this semester, it would be the fact that in a couple of weeks, I have a 6 week break and I can finally binge watch Glee.

But for now, to reduce my massive inclination to binge watch that show, I settled for Pitch Perfect 2 this weekend. What I truly love about these kinds of films/TV is the behind-the-scenes extras. I really love watching how all the singing and dancing are put together, and all the rehearsals that they go through to make sure that they’re on point when they film.

It’s also really nice to see the actors having fun on the set and just being themselves. In Pitch Perfect 2, they had a behind-the-scenes feature of the boot camp they did. It was really interesting how most of that was shot once. Especially since one of the activities was a mud pit, it would be tiring doing that multiple times considering you have to go through the mud, then wash it all off, get dry, and do it all over again. I also love seeing the alternative/deleted/extended scenes that they included in the DVD, as it really goes to show the time constraints they have to work with and the importance of selection and omission.
