Team Up

Together Everyone Achieves More

Oh, how that phrase is so inspiring yet haunting. Everyone knows what it feels like to work in a team, that is, most of us has had experiences working in good teams, and not so good teams.

So how do you work collaboratively in a team? Well, of course, that’s something that needs to be taught in a lecture. And that is exactly what we got in the second half of our lectorial this week. From recalling bad experiences of past group projects to tips on working collaboratively in a group, we got the whole how-to guide on being a good team player. That and also a pretty big emphasis on building our reputations.

Though the tone was quite light and casual, the whole talk on reputations was kind of intense. Honestly, it makes me feel a little shallow talking about my reputation, and how I need to build a good one and protect and maintain it. I’m one who cares more about character than reputation because a reputation is how other people see you and character is how you see yourself. And how you see yourself is more important than how others perceive you.

But in spite of that, I understand that it’s all part of being in this course which is very team-oriented. You really can’t escape not working in a group. So, yeah, I guess it is pretty important that we build good reputations because we’d like for people to want to work with us. I mean, making a film is where you can actually apply the saying, ‘it takes a village’ since it kind of does. You can’t get through it alone, you can’t get through group projects alone, because it’s meant to be completed by a group.

So here’s to building reputations and surviving group work.
