In this weeks lecture we focused on the idea of narrative and the idea that ‘Everything is a story/Story is everything’.
Causality is the relation between one event and another (or the cause and effect) and is made up through character development, plot and resolution.
We watched this short film, and even though I had no idea what it was about I thoroughly enjoyed it. We were asked to list the things about the film that we thought made it narrative and non-narrative.
Narrative
- Headings make it appear sequential
- The three segments are thematically connected
- Each segment is climatic
Non-Narrative
- No final resolution or conclusion
- No sense of chronological time within the film
- The characters don’t seem to have any development or motivation
