Networked Media Exercise: Multimedia on my blog
Today’s exercise is to upload media (video, audio, or photos) to my blog and discuss how they add to the theme.
As I’ve already uploaded media in all of the above forms to this blog I want to focus on what I want the ‘asthetic theme’ of my blog to be. I’ve uploaded a picture I took in January while I was in Bali waiting for my student visa to come through. As you can see this is a pretty Basic (capital B Basic) instagram photo. Though this blog will hopefully be anything but Basic, this photo does do what I want. It clearly displays what the topis will be (the book). It’s vibrant in the way I hope the text will be as well as adding personal touch.
Overall I want the media I add to my blog to be vibrant, modern, and relative to the topics at hand. One thing I think I can do to add to media I publish is go beyond a filter. I want to add material that not only I have taken but have then edited and curated to specific posts.
Great that you’re finding ways to integrate media into your blog in a meaningful way – taking time to consider what sort of images, audio or video is ‘right’ for your blog is an important process to incorporate into your blogging practice
