Week 4 Sound Exercise: Audio Reflection
In the week 4 exercise, we were given about 20 minutes to take the sound recorders and record a short audio interview as well as sounds with-in the environment to accompany it. This exercise was quite a bit of a challenge as finding a quiet space to record the interview was a hassle -recording isolated sounds on campus – even more of one. | ||
I wasn’t too happy with what we ended up recording, time got wasted trying to decide where to go and what to record. As the final sound bites we had weren’t that great or useful I decided to record a short podcast about the exercise incorporating some of the bits we recorded as well as found pieces of audio from FreeSound.org.
In doing this I also tried to incorporate some elements we talked about in class like layering, and making sure the layered audios aren’t fighting with eachother – though when doing this I found balancing the volume between clips difficult you can hear the changes in my volume through out the audio. I clearly need more practice with Audition (and should probably watch some tutorials as I was simply winging it while doing this) but the interface seems fairly simple so i’m sure i’ll master it in no time! Give it a listen to hear my full thoughts on the exercise and bits of the audio we recorded:
