Recommendation: Presidential by The Washington Post
Over the past couple of months I have been waiting patiently each week for the next episode of Presidential. This podcast encompasses all of my passions; politics, culture, and media.
Presidential by The Washington Post is a weekly podcast. Each week focuses on a single U.S president in chronological order. The host Lillian Cunningham discusses each presidents legacy, their careers in politics, and what it would be like to go a date with them!
The most recent episode focused on William Henry Harrison. WHH is most famous for having died a month into office. The cause of death being affluenza contracted after giving a 2 hour long inauguration address, outside in the rain, with no jacket (or so I thought!).
This was by far one of the more humorous episodes and even included a We Might Be Giants cover of WHH campaign song “Tippecone and Tyler Too”.
Not only does this podcast go into the policies and cultural significance of the presidents. But also how these presidents gained notoriety or in WHH case – how he campaigned. If you go to the We Might Be Giants link above you will see just how catchy his campaign song was. That piece of Media as well as his campaign pamphlets (that were filled with very heroic(?) tales about WHH) influenced voters.
