Project 1 – #StruggleBus

First class, first assignment, first sign of struggle.  The first project brief for Media 1 is to create media components that will contribute to a self portrait. Anytime I hear/see the words “self-portrait” I only think one thing, “Crap!”. It’s hard to talk about oneself, let alone do it in multiple different forms of communication and have them be somewhat cohesive.  My brain is frozen. I clearly am thinking to much into, but it is hard to stop.

In my last post I mentioned one of the reasons I wanted to/ was excited to come back to school was to surround myself with encouraging people. I also need to encourage myself. Stop doubting the ideas that I do have (in this case only a few) and simply DO. Doubt is something hard – for me, at least- to put to the side.

I have no clue what to do for the multiple audio recordings. Am I suppose to just talk about myself? Write and record a funny poem? Record what I’m saying in my sleep? Record how I feel with a 20 second audio of me saying filler words “Like, so, umm, uhh…” ?

This task, in reality, is a simple assignment.

Stop thinking. Just Do. Learn.
