Brunswick

This week we were asked to think about our neighborhood, why we lived there, what connected us to it and so on, the following is my brainstorm on Brunswick, what I think about it and why I’m there.

  • I moved to brunswick because it’s close to the city, close to where I play sport and has everything I need within walking distance
  • I’m from the country so I like the quiet of my street at almost all hours, except when school finishes and end because there’s a primary school at the end of my street, just like there was back in my hometown. This is my third year living in melbourne, the first year I spent living at RMIT village, it’s a very crowded place so my house here is a huge change.
  • Despite loving my place I don’t tend to spend a lot of time there, I’m out and about doing things and staying with other people all the time, so when I’m home I like to really chill out on my own. I don’t know my neighbours but they seem friendly enough, my housemate is much like me, not home a lot.
  • Because I don’t spend a huge chunk of time at home the feeling of going home is really nice no matter which way I’m going or how I get there. I don’t have a car and I hate spending money on public transport so I ride a bike almost everywhere that I go. In regards to a journey home I love going home from uni for a few reasons, one is that it means I can relax, but the journey home is so nice, I ride up royal parade which is so green and shady and looks cool as no matter the weather. I love going through parkville because of all the parks and trees and nature, I’m very attached to all things green and since moving out of home I don’t tend to see a lot of it anymore.
  • Brunswick is iconic for individuals
  • Peaceful – i think i weirdly find brunswick peaceful because I’ve never really lived on my own, I grew up with a kinda big family and my first year in melbourne I lived on res.
