We – self admitted- hear database and think… numbers, lists, how dull.
I think, because of my hatred of numbers I’ve created an unsubstantiated opinion about the restrictive nature of database work. This is such a narrow minded minded view. I guess because I had never experienced database, because I’ve only been exposed to narrative work, I’ve created an assumption that narrative is the best and most entertaining way to do things. But database has an exploratory nature that i don’t think narrative can quite achieve. Database credits audience’s where due credit. We can think. We think in relations. We create meanings between comparisons and associations. It’s quite genius to understand this and to make full use of this as a database film creator.
