uncool girl tries to make sense of the concept ‘cool’

‘cool’. What is, ‘cool’?

For long long time, people all over the place have strived to be ‘cool’.
For the purpose of entertainment and convenience I am going to narrow down the view of ‘cool’ to modern day Melbourne ‘cool’. This way my generalisations won’t be as general. Love me.
Now I know what you’re thinking- “Wow, this girl must know a lot about ‘cool’ if she is blogging about what constitutes ‘cool’. In fact she must be ‘cool’.”
The truth is that I am not even close to ‘cool’. I’m just ‘that cheese girl’ whom we all know and love(?).
Goodness look at me rambling when I should be getting to the crux of the ‘cool’.
This meaningful topic of conversation was initially struck with my mate little Lucy, who is, in my mind, moderately cool (JUST KIDDING LUCE YOU’RE ALRIGHT MATE).
Little Lucy and I were chatting (gals will be gals after all am I right?) and stumbled upon the idea that perhaps the question of ‘cool’ is one worth considering.
All too often my friends (the study group I am basing these observations on) claim that certain people are ‘cool’ because of this or that- a certain image someone has projected of themselves on the internet or within social groups, physical appearance and dress sense, location of house, ambitions etc. it’s all very superficial and tedious and Naturally these assertions frustrate uncool George to no end.
In my mind, there is nothing cooler than being completely comfortable with who and what you are. Just an honest soul travelling light and having a good time on the ol’ road of life.
what could possibly be cooler than complete authenticity?
This sounds like a giant ball of baloney- pretentious and cringeworthy all at once. However I think it’s for real.
for real.
As soon as you try to be something you aren’t you’re not being you anymore. And when you’re not being you you’re not being true. And what’s the sense in that? (Um am I a genius? Or maybe a poet?)
But for real.
Complete transparency and existing in the world as a genuine soul are the chief qualities that George, in her comprehensive studies, has decided are the essence of ‘cool’.
So if you want me to think you’re cool then pretend you are genuine.
bless.
ALSO. Let us remember that I am definitely not cool. Not by societies standards and not yet by my own- I hope to get there one day.
Stay true- most of all to yourself gals and guys!!!!
