Louis provides incredible insight into cultural determinism and technology, proposing that perhaps violence and war incited major technological development. And Rebecca responds to Shields. Thanks to her, I understand a bit more what he is trying to say. I also agree that a combination of ideas is necessary – it’s inevitable that society progresses from traditional mediums, but that doesn’t mean we should completely get rid of the novel. A compromise would be great.
