Today during the workshop I was having a discussion with my demonstrator, and she was talking about how “everyone in this degree are creative people”. I 100% agree with her about my peers, when I talk to them some of the ideas they come up with are just incredible. And their work for the first two projects have been absolutely outstanding. Honestly, the standard is so high I am surprised to hear that they have so little filmmaking/editing experience.
It makes me wonder where I fit in. Before this course I did consider myself a creative person. I have always been interested in media and the arts – particularly films and theatre. However, I somehow feel a bit out of place within this course. Although I am thoroughly enjoying the course work and finding everything very interesting, I admit that I am finding the course work very challenging. So much so that I am questioning if I am really as creative as I thought I was. I do realise that I am probably being too harsh on myself – which I’m sure everyone does. But I would like to find some new ways of expressing myself creatively. Which means I may have to challenge my idea of what creativity is and how it is expressed.
I shall do some research and see what I can find.
Until then,
