Today our group met to finalise our script for the audio essay part of PB4. After having some difficulty finding a place to sit to conduct our meeting (maybe we should book a room next time!) we settled into a rather successful meeting. We discussed ideas, shared notes and generally nutted out what we needed to do for the audio essay part of PB4. The first thing we decided was, we have waaayyyy too much information to cover! The audio essay is only 4-5 minutes long and we probably have enough information to cover three times that. So we decided that we really need to work on cutting back what we’re writing and make sure it is succinct as possible.

Today we also agreed on a structure –

Introduction
Personal Introductions
Themes
Characters
Conclusion

We are each focusing on two themes and two characters from the Harry Potter series.
My themes are –
Truth
Good vs Evil
My characters are –
Harry Potter
Voldemort

I’m excited about honing my research down to cover these more specifically. I feel like my characters and themes link together really was too, so finding information on both should be pretty easy.

So off to the university library I go!

Our aim for next meeting:
Finish individual audio scrips
Cut down some of the information
Think of interesting audio we can edit in with our own recordings to make the essay more interesting

I’m actually really excited about our progress for this assignment. I found the first few tasks of this subject to be quite difficult and daunting. But its kind of nice to be working and colaborating with others. I feel like my group works really well together; it feels like we have a mutual respect for each other and it makes working together really easy. I’m excited to move forward with this because #1 my group members are lovely and #2 I think we have such an interesting topic. I have been a fan of the Harry Potter series for as long as I can remember. I looked forward to each book and then each movie and completely fell in love with its vivid world and wonderful characters. To be able to do an assignment where I can research and analyse the narrative and texts of Harry Potter is just amazing. Really makes me so excited to be studying this course! As dorky as it sounds, it makes me excited to do work on this assignment.
