The 16th annual Canberra Short Film Festival is one of Australia’s premier film competitions and the meeting place for our hottest short filmmakers. 2 years ago, one of our Official Selection, Miracle Fish ,has netted several international awards and an Academy Award nomination.
This year’s Festival will run at Dendy Cinemas over three glittering nights during Floriade from Friday 16th September through Sunday 18th September. Cash prizes (up to $1,500) will be awarded in four categories –National Schools, Grass – Roots, Emerging and Practising. There is also a People’s Choice award in each category.
3. Emerging Competition
This category is intended to showcase the works of emerging film-makers – primarily film-makers with more than 4 years experience but who have not yet made the industry their main profession. The prize of $1500 cash is given to the Producer of the Best Film (Emerging Competition)
• Director or Producer have more than 4 years experience in the production industry (including related tertiary studies)
• Director and Producer have not drawn a significant part of their wage from the production industry during the previous 12 months
