Who controls who?

Technological Determinism. Basically its the idea that T.V’s changed who we are, and the evolution of the iPhone resulted in better connections between friends.

In this weeks reading explains technology as an agent of social change. But technology hasn’t become the ruler of the world and taken over all of our brains.

We as society drive the need for new technologies, just as they were created and released into circumstances to which they could thrive. They are marketed to aid economic, political and social ‘need’, but is this need true or what we are told to believe is a ‘need’.

Good advertising doesn’t go astray when the newest iPhone is about to be released. We are told that it will change us, pretty visuals entice us and make some of us believe that it will. So while I like to think society is above a fall to mindless consumerism, it is so easy to fall into a comfortable cycle of buy, use, and discard without thought.

Bleak.
