Lentara 1.1 – What Am I Dealing With?

Hey again! It’s been a while… This is my first post of many regarding the RMIT University Media studio, ‘Non-fiction Design – Lentara’. There’s clearly two parts in that title that will come to overlap through the duration of this 12-week course. Prior to the first tutorials, the idea of ‘non-fiction design’ seemed straightforward and understandable enough; creating truthful media…

Cobwebs Overtaking Blockbuster

If you haven’t already realised, nobody heads to Blockbuster anymore. Music stores are going out of business. My favourite childhood book store Borders has closed down. We have one thing to blame for this (or thank) – the Internet. The Long Tail by Chris Anderson confirmed my already present ideas about the battle between physical media; CD’s, DVD’s, paper books, and…

‘sTrain’ – the movie

The challenge was simple:
Make a 3 minute film. Reflect to the themes of ‘Consequences’. No edits, no cuts, one take.
The filming process was a little tricky, as each attempt relied on the perfect timing with the train. So we devised a clever strategy; as soon as the flashing lights and warning sirens began – action! I always love being in front of the camera, and don’t mind a fancy suit if i may say so myself! It’s about time I give my RMIT course some praise. while my friends at other institutions are complaining about mind-numbing exams and their ongoing list of books to read, I’m creating projects like this one. Hopefully there are some more great ones to come. If not, then I suspect the filmmaker within will emerge and I shall create some gems without coursework in mind. If you’re reading this, I’ll post you VIP tickets when I’m on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
