Backyard Cricket or Stick Cricket?

In today’s technologically dominated era, I’m confident in saying that we are all beginning to see the sun less and less. The Australian culture is changing. No longer are we playing backyard cricket with the rubbish bins or having a BBQ by the pool, but instead we’re playing Stick Cricket on our iPad’s and watching Masterchef. We can push this blame on the back of two modern superpowers; TV and the Internet.  Let’s not forget to mention Video Games and Smartphones. Australia has become so accustomed to the couch-potato lifestyle, that in fact 99% of our households own at least one television set.  The average Aussie watches 93 hours and 16 minutes per month watching TV as of 2014 – a jump of 37 mins compared to the previous year. Even with that jump, the Internet has still skyrocketed in popularity and usage. In 2007 it overtook TV in terms of time spent online.
