I quite enjoyed this weeks readings. It was about David Gauntlett’s book Making Media Studies: What kinds of knowledge do we need now? He was asked the question: What kinds of knowledge do we need now? In terms of media, communications, and digital culture, to which he gave three responses.

  • How things work (technical and economic knowledge)
  • How things feel and fit (emotional and embodied knowledge)
  • How to make a difference (creative and political knowledge)

He went on to explain how each other these ideas build on one another. How making a difference is much more important that know how things work, but you can’t make changes until you know what your dealing with. I found his view of media studies quite interesting.
