This week’s lecture focused on studios in the next semester of the course and how the rest of the year (and degree) would look. Studios are more of a mix of theoretical and practical work, which I personally will welcome. This past semester has been very theoretical and has focused a lot on media as a general term, rather than delving into film and television theory, and hasn’t gone into much practical work in terms of television or film studio practices. I’ve found myself pretty disillusioned with the course as it’s not at all what I expected, and the grading (which confuses me to no end – written feedback doesn’t correspond with numerical marks) on top of that has made me less than enthusiastic about classes and the future in general. I’m hoping these more practical studios will make me feel a bit less confused about what this course is going to prepare me for, and feel more excited about the Bachelor of Communications.
