Writing and recording an audio essay has proven to be harder than I initially thought. Interviewing people for vox pops as we had planned did not go as well as planned, with a majority of the people we approached either declining an interview or too young to consent for themselves to have an interview. Despite altering our approach in asking people multiple times – emphasising that this was uni work, not publicly posted, would take one minute, etc – we ended up getting ten interviews in the space of two hours. Vox pops are not something I’d elect to include in any sort of media artefact in future unless it was entirely necessary. Eventually, after a second shot of vox pops, this time on campus (I think students pitied us) we managed to get some useable material. Now, onto actually figuring out how to incorporate these answers into our script…something we will have to work on in our workshop, where we will be given the chance to discuss with our group and complete our audio script in time to record and edit it.
