I’m really happy with the group I’ve been put with; both Bradley and Katrina’s work that I’ve seen in class is great and they definitely seem really open to looking at things from different perspectives, and have new ideas and concepts to bring to the group that I haven’t even considered. They’re both really friendly and obviously similar in their aspirations to myself, and have different experiences that they can bring to the group also. Having two people that are as interested in the topic and assignment in general as I am will make doing the work a lot less of a burden and more stimulating.

Strengths

I’m easy-going and open to trying new things, and am able to easily adapt to changes in plans, which will be essential in any group work as plans are inevitably going to change as we compromise and reassess our work. I’m really interested in the topic we’ve been given, which is a major strength as it means I’ll be more enthusiastic about actually doing work, and have more ideas and things to contribute as a whole. Though I do procrastinate, when I am genuinely excited and enthusiastic about something, I usually find myself more motivated to get things done early.

Weaknesses

One of my main weaknesses is my fluctuating attention span; I can focus for hours at a time when I really apply myself, but on the flip side I can get very easily distracted, especially as most of the time in which I have to do work outside of class is at home where my dog, social media and other distractions are everywhere. I can also be a procrastinator as well which can lead to me cutting it very fine in terms of deadlines.

Opportunities

In any industry, though especially in the media / film industry, collaboration is a major part of everything you do. Whether working on a film, pitching a concept or just about anything, there is usually a whole team of people working together to get it done. This project brief is a perfect opportunity to bounce ideas off of one another and start to really get some experience working with others on similar things to what I’ll hopefully be doing in my eventual career. This collaboration is also a great opportunity to get to know my fellow students, who are as the lecturers have told us many times, the people who we will also be working with in the industry when we go on to our careers, who have different ideas, experience and perspectives on things that I may not have previously considered.

Threats

I am, to some degree, a perfectionist, and this can impede the completion of the project as I may spend unnecessarily long periods of time on small things trying to make them to my standard, when I should really be spending more time on larger components of the assignment. My time management can also get in the way of completing the project as I may leave things later than I should to start.
