To familiarise us with the Premiere program, we were tasked with formulating a short video to accompany a haiku of our choice, with footage shot on phones and music trimmed and faded out as necessary. It was an introduction to a relatively foreign program for me. It was interesting and a bit of a learning curve to formulate, as I’d had no prior experience with Premiere Pro, instead using Final Cut any time I’ve done editing of any sort. Though the layout seems similar to look at, it’s entirely different, complex to use and to be perfectly honest, difficult. It’s ironic that while creating a video to accompany a haiku, a form of japanese poetry that is by all account contemplative, simple and relaxing, I was reduced to swearing at my Mac, the program and the sheer lag that accompanied for no apparent reason (my laptop is literally three weeks old and has barely anything saved to it as of yet). I nearly gave up multiple times and will probably continue to experience this exasperation for such a frustratingly simple yet somehow difficult program to use for many months to come. Hopefully soon I’ll get the hang of it. I liked the fact that we pooled all of our footage together, allowing for a greater shot diversity. Although I’m not that happy with the final outcome, it’s nice to be able to say that I have made something on Premiere.

Uploading this one has taken quite a while, but here it is.
