I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring.

An Introduction // Emily Spindler

So, this is the first post on my blog that will chronicle my journey through this three year degree.

I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Emily, I’m 18 years old (19 in July!), I’m fresh out of high school and I’m mildly obsessed with dogs. I’m Melbourne born and bred though I feel more English than Australian (on account of Sheffield being my mother and maternal family’s birthplace and stronghold). I adore travelling and it would be a dream of mine to have a job where I could travel the world and chronicle my adventures and the beautiful world around me for a living, though ironically I’m also terrified of leaving home and my loved ones behind for more than a few weeks at a time. I want to make films, or media texts of some form, though I’m not sure yet exactly what would be my specialty. I’m going to Peru later this year and hope that my adventures there might help me to learn a bit more about documentary making, one of the possible paths. I’m very focused on the aesthetics surrounding film so perhaps cinematography of some sort would be interesting. I love music and am deeply in love with the music scene, both international and Aussie, punk/hardcore and pop, so maybe music videos or tour videos would be cool as well. There’s so many options, so I hope this bachelor of media helps me learn and decide what my strengths are to then choose which path would suit me best.

That’s me in a nutshell. I suppose more parts of me will come to light throughout this blogging experience. I’m ready for the rollercoaster ride that is uni, so bring it on.
