MMoW#10: UPDATES / THIS IS HARD

Updates:

  1. I’m shooting in a corner of my apartment’s basement car park. It’s not a ‘room’, but it’s nice and grunge-looking, with plenty of space. I’ll run a lead to the area so that I have power.
  2. I’ve altered the script to remove the heavy Irish-ness. I might smooth it out a bit more later.
  3. My third coverage style is Wes Anderson and Robert Yeoman square and flat and storybook-like style.
  4. I’ve shot-listed the three coverage styles of the scene, except these shot lists are incomprehensible, so I’ll instead upload photos of the annotated scripts (meanwhile I’ll clean up the shot lists so that they are legible for eyes besides my own). BUT I’m still working out the kinks in the shot constructions, so they might still alter.
  5. I’m tracking down a steadycam stabiliser thing for the Lubezki-inspired coverage style. (Just waiting for someone to get back to me.)
  6. Casting is taking a while. Waiting on potential actors to get back to me. Should probably find a back-up pair of actors in case I can’t get Star Now actors.
  7. Shoot date depends on actors’ availabilities. Thursday next week would be best for me in terms of having the shooting location set up – i.e. moving our trailer, a car, setting up power, trouble-shooting for noise and lighting (there’s an air filter thing that comes on and off, and the lights go on and off – but there is a way to change the timing of when all of this happens), shopping for food, and doing a bit of set dressing with whatever is there.
  8. Need to do a safety report.
  9. Need to meet with my DP to do some shooting tests.
  10. Issue = lighting. I don’t know what lights I will need. I really need to figure this out.
  11. This is really hard to organise. But I hope things will come together. I’m just keen to fast-forward and see what I can do with the camerawork (and editing).
