Food on Film: Week One Blogpost
Introduce yourself and your interest in this studio.
Hi – I’m Elizabeth (or Lizzie). Food on Film appealed to me as I am a food journalist as my career – I’ve been freelancing writing in the food industry for the past year and a half now, so it ultimately appealed to me through the link to my career at the moment and into the future.
What are you specifically interested in in relation to food issues?
I really love the link between food and culture. It’s something that I focus on in my writing, so I want to be able to bring that to life through the screen as well.
What do you get out of this semester?
Because I’ve mostly focused on my writing, I’d love to be able to use my documentary skills more and develop something that I am proud of on a topic I am really passionate about (food, duh!). I also want to do more camerawork, as it is my final year at university, I want to be able to make the most out of the facilities before I go out into the ‘real world’. Scary.
What do you want to challenge yourself to do?
Make a film! I rely so much on journalism in my job, so I want to be able to say “hey, I’ve made a food film” – something that I am proud of would be nice, too.
What do you want from the group?
For people to work hard? Not a big fan of group assignments if I am honest, but if everyone is open to working together, that would be really nice.
What questions do you have at the end of week 1?
No questions, all pretty self explanitory!
